VGT – Port of Valletta

The VGT was established in 2006

The Valletta Gateway Terminals (VGT) was established in 2006 and has been given a concession to operate and manage the Grand Harbour Terminals. VGT is a joint venture between Portek Group of Singapore and Tumas Group of Malta.

W.J.Parnis England Ltd, established since 1899 has represented and acted as port agents to numerous liner operators, charterers and ship owners handling the whole array of cargoes including break-bulk, palletalized, conventional, Ro-Ro, Li-Lo, vehicles and containers on all the operational berths in the port of Valletta.

The facilities provided by VGT include:

Handling of conventional cargo:
  • 7 x Tug masters
  • 3 x Diesel Forklifts (5Tons)
  • 4 x Electric Forklifts (3Tons)
  • 1 x Italgru
  • 2 x warehouses with a storage capacity of over 7200 m3
Roll On / Roll Off (Ro-Ro facilities):
  • 6 x Ro-Ro ramps
  • 7 x Tug masters additional 8 x Tug masters
  • 3 x Diesel Forklifts (5Tons)
  • 4 x Electric Forklifts (3Tons)
  • 1 Heavy Duty Fork Lift Cranes
Handling of containers:
  • 4 x RTG (Rubber Mounted Gantry)
  • 1 Quay crane (being commissioned)
  • 2 x Reach stackers
  • 1 x Empty stacker
Facilities for Vehicles:
  • Two secured storage area (Area A 10,400 m3 and Area B 9,000m3)
  • Hire of drivers
  • Insurance to cover 3rd party liability
